Original songs from the latest Indian rock band

Kastadyne is a recent name among Indian rock bands. A (mostly) studio band from Mumbai, we are the writer-composer duo of Sheldon Fonseca and Tejas Narayan (TJ).

Sheldon is the lead vocalist and lyricist and TJ is the bassist-guitarist and composer on our album.

We work out of TJ's professional studio lovingly nicknamed, Studio B. For the past 4 years, we have been searching for our unique sound. The debut album Eleven Complaints was a direct result of our searching.

For an Indian rock band, Eleven Complaints has won a lot of critical acclaim. The word on the street is that this new sound is 'original', 'new-age' and 'un-metal'.

Kastadyne's debut album "Eleven Complaints"

The first song of the album, Victim of my Anger, was ranked at no.1 on www.soundclick.com out of 113,000 songs from all over the world in the alternative rock category.

Apart from a cool album launch party in Mumbai, we were also interviewed on Radio City, Radio Mirchi, Rainbow FM with Mihir Joshi, Indian Express, Mid-Day Metro, RAVE Magazine as also the Indian rock and metal portal Indianmusicrevolution.com.

The entire album is also available for listening in all of the main outlets of Cafe Coffee Day across India, as well for sale at Planet M stores across the country.

One of the hidden secrets behind the success of the album was the fact that it was mastered in Germany by a company called XARC, which masters music from all around the world. According to us, XARC Mastering is the chief reason why one of the reviewers of the album termed their sound "deliciously loud". Leading mastering houses of the world take care to ensure just that - competitive loudness levels that compare with CD albums in the genre.

Backed by popular demand, the band has just finished the video for Victim of my Anger. "No. We are not putting it on YouTube," says Sheldon Fonseca, "until it is aired on TV."

The musical duo have already gone back into Studio B to start work on their second album. As Sheldon puts it, "TJ and me spend most of the week in Studio B composing and writing but use only Sundays to record, since the recording sessions last 8-12 hours."

We know that fans of Indian rock songs are growing by the day. We seriously hope that the second album of Kastadyne will be something to look forward to.
